There, he enjoys a soul-stirring visit with an elderly herbalist once featured in National Geographic and known around the world as a beloved practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine. On that same day Benny was invited into a humble home and offered to partake in a snack of potatoes and tea, where there was a sticky gum situation! Later in the shadow of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Benny rode on a horse, where the older guide broke into ancient verse as the wind howled like an angry wolf. This was one day! Magic swirls through the chapters. Soul keys were clanging in his pocket.
From China, it's off to Vietnam, where former Marine Benny has to get verbally tough with some hothead bullies aboard what's supposed to be a peaceful cruise in Ha Long Bay. Spurred on by Benny's grit, the crew escorts the bullies off the ship the next morning! Benny encounters the Universe speaking to him in threads through eye contact, realizations and magical moments. He also creates a mud tsunami on a rented scooter, deep in the jungle foliage of Nha Trang, with a soft-voiced passenger on the back! Here Benny's heartstrings are strongly strummed by the Universe, both by Love and evil news from his home country. Soul keys were being collected and stored.
After Vietnam, Benny's adventure takes him into Cambodia, where he experiences the horror of the Killing Fields, as well as the energy-packed temples of Angkor Wat-a UNESCO World Heritage Site that quickly etches itself onto the glass window of Benny's soul. Benny takes a couple days to teach the youth of Cambodia in a straw hut deep in the countryside of Siem Reap province. Benny meets up with fellow travelers from Vietnam unexpectedly, and also celebrates his birthday and a Packer playoff victory. He then has a "Luxury Bus" incident that calls in the energies of Hunter S. Thompson, indulging in a day of debauchery in Phnom Penh.
Riding the energy wave, Benny heads into Laos, soon finding himself kayaking the Mekong River while on the lookout for a rare sighting of the freshwater dolphins there. Later in Laos, Benny befriends an elephant, taking a bareback ride across a river atop the gentle giant. There is a crazy accidental - cave adventure, a past life meeting, a monkey saving story, and another scooter adventure deep into the jungles of a Buddhist country.
Not long after that, Benny crosses another river, this time by boat-right into Thailand and the city of Chiang Mai, the last stop for Book 2 ... but not before the crazy pace of the place has Benny's previously peaceful spirit wanting him to sprint back to Laos. But he rolls with, because every spot has an energy of its own to discover and embrace.
