The World War II Air Combat record of E. R. Silsbee, Sr. This book covers the 84 combat sorties flown during 1943 &1944 by one P-40 pilot of the "Greatest Generation". Assigned to the Twelfth Air Force, 79th Fighter Group, 86th Fighter Squadron in North Africa and Italy, it is the chronological record of his many combat sorties. Based on his logs and journals, the book contains previously unpublished photos of early aviation in America before and through the war years, ephemera and memorabilia, as well as, paintings rendered by the pilot himself depicting aircraft he flew and those he flew against. A fascinating look into how one pilot experienced the beauty and thrills of early aviation and the harsh realities of armed conflict on a personal level.
