Food can be contaminated during the processes of production, packaging, transportation, etc. Food safety is concerned with such practices in order to avoid food-borne illnesses. This includes food hygiene, pesticide residue, food labeling, food certification, etc. The measurement of the availability of food along with its accessibility to consumers is known as food security. Some of the indexes to measure food security are Household Dietary Diversity Scale (HDDS), Household Hunger Scale (HDS), Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS), etc. The four pillars of food security are availability, accessibility, utilization and stability.
