In the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 2, when the angels had gone back into Heaven, the shepherds rushed to Bethlehem, to see the wonder that had been told them. The Gospel doesn't say who was left behind to guard the flocks. This book answers the question and introduces an angel who befriends the nine-year-old shepherd who was left behind.
