Brief Description

The author, Mrs. Bolajoko Suebat Omotosho (RIP) has painstakingly narrated her life story which has vividly brought forth the importance of sexuality education, effective parenting and self-determination. It is also evident from the book that every child must be provided every opportunity to grow and demonstrate their potentials. The importance of freedom of speech as part of fundamental human rights and as part of the essence of a successful life has also been adequately demonstrated. As the author rightly said that her father was committed to allowing freedom of speech for every child, she became bold to express herself under any circumstances. Combined with the sexuality education she received from home, she and her siblings existed ever in the ancient past. However, adequate sexuality education is a veritable tool for every young person to overcome the challenges. Despite the fact that every child is unique, there is no useless child. If every child is given a conducive environment by the community and society at large, they can excel in any endeavour of choice. This points to the fact that we can build our own egalitarian society as a people with little reliance on government as is the case today. The foregoing beliefs by the author informed the need for the NGO called Family Health and Population Action Committee (FAHPAC), which was established and successfully run by the author and her husband, Mr. Gbolagade Folorunsho Omotosho. The book also challenges the community in particular and the government to make provision for addressing the plights of the orphans and vulnerable children. The author was a victim as an orphan from age 3 years but with adequate support from the community she overcame most of her challenges. The book provides a hands-on learning ground for everyone, be it young people or adults. The role of the teacher as a role model spreads across some chapters of the book. The book is surely an addition to available literature on life-building and a must read for all. It is also recommended as one of the books for literature in secondary schools.
